Continuous Improvement Engineer

Purpose of Job
Atlas Elektronik UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer to support the business wide improvement programme.

To support the Business Improvement Manager with the delivery of the business wide improvement programme across end to end activities in order for AEUK to achieve overall strategic objectives. Role will include the ownership of a number of identified improvement work streams crossing multiple functions

  • Support the effective operation of AEUK exceeding targets including customer delivery and quality performance

Employment status
Permanent, full time (37 hours/ week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for managing and leading continuous improvement projects including producing project updates
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and methodology throughout the business including the manufacturing facility and processes
  • Analysing company processes and procedures to identify waste and inefficiencies
  • Developing process enhancements strategies, investigating shortfalls and bottlenecks and inefficiencies in current processes
  • Promote Lean techniques and process management
  • Lead process improvement workshops and improvement projects to drive business results across the organization
  • Partner with all functions to define process capabilities, assess gaps and develop gap closure plans
  • Plan and facilitate kaizen activities/events across the business
  • Plan, coordinate, and teach Lean tools to employees

Knowledge, skills and personal qualities required

  • Green Belt certified
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Sound knowledge of modern manufacturing methodologies and systems planning.
  • Cross-functional business team environment experience preferred
  • Proven ability to self-manage and deliver on time to budget.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills to build relationship internally and externally.
  • Reliable and flexible in their approach
  • Strong leadership/team management skills and experience
  • Credible and confident communicator (written and verbal) at all levels
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to influence at a senior level
  • Highly customer focused
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Able to develop new and innovative ways of working
  • Experience with IT/ERP systems is preferred

Education requirements

  • Ideally degree qualified in an engineering or manufacturing subject or equivalent qualification
  • Green Belt / Black Belt or other Six Sigma certification
