ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK Ltd is committed to the development of all its employees in order to grow in-house expertise such that the best possible solutions are offered to our customers and to allow our employees to achieve their highest potential. The introduction of a professional development scheme is seen as key to supporting our newly recruited graduates in quickly becoming valuable professional engineers and achieving incorporated and/or chartered status.
The scheme aims to support graduates from the time they join the company until achieving professional accreditation by providing suitable learning opportunities. Suitably experienced and qualified mentors are provided to each of the graduates to further support their professional progress.
The scheme is closely monitored with regular reviews and a graduate training programme including a project set by the Senior Management Team. The graduates will continue to be mentored and get support from the company as well as the committee that oversees the scheme until they achieve their desired incorporated or chartered status.
The scheme covers all Graduates who join the company in any discipline. The core areas of the scheme are as follows:
Tamsyn Tankard-Evans (Graduate 2016)
"After finishing my PhD in Astronomy I was looking for a career where I could progress in an innovative real-world environment. After my interview day it was clear that working at Atlas would offer me an opportunity to develop my skills in an industry with varied and exciting projects, surrounded by enthusiastic, clever people who are keen to help. I am now applying my existing expertise to solve exciting problems, while improving and learning new skills every day and with continuous support through the graduate scheme."
Sam Goble (Graduate 2016)
"Following two consecutive summer internships working on the nuclear propulsion side of the submarines business, I had acquired a strong appreciation for cutting-edge technology in the defence sector. Over half of the graduating Mechanical Engineering cohort from Imperial College will walk into finance and consulting in the city, the other half look for exciting and satisfying work in environments of engineering excellence. I was looking for the latter, and that began with searching for an accredited graduate scheme. I grew up in Poole, so discovering the breadth of work ATLAS are involved in and then subsequently securing my place on the graduate scheme was a convenient and fitting end to my graduate career hunt."
Keenan Pratt (Graduate 2016)
"I am a Graduate Project Manager at AEUK. Predominantly I manage the Research and Development Projects in Submarine Systems Division, in addition to projects for both UK and overseas customers. The job is extremely interesting, varied and gives you exposure to almost all areas of the business. This involves meeting with the various teams across the projects, planning, monitoring progress, financials and reporting. Ultimately I am responsible for ensuring my projects run to time, cost and quality – therefore, anything involved in achieving this, I do. Beyond the ‘day job’, I also manage the graduate project, which is a company funded project that forms a large part of the graduate scheme, where graduates develop something new and innovative."
